From My Bookshelf – Day 50

Remember this: The soul creates, the mind reacts.

Why does it take so much time to create the reality you choose? This is why: because you have not been living your truth. Know the truth, and the truth shall set you free. Yet once you come to know your truth, don’t keep changing your mind about it. This is your mind trying to figure out what’s “best.” Stop it! Get out of your mind. Get back into your senses! That is what is meant by “getting back to your senses.” It is a returning to how you feel, not how you think. Your thoughts are just that—thoughts. Mental constructions. “Made up” creations of your mind. But your feelings—now they are real. Feelings are the language of the soul. And your soul is your truth.

Certainly, failing to express your truth would hardly be appropriate. Yet people do this all the time. So afraid are they to cause or to face possible unpleasantness that they hide their truth altogether.

Remember this: It is not nearly so important how well a message is received as how well it is sent.

You cannot take responsibility for how well another accepts your truth; you can only ensure how well it is communicated. And by how well, I don’t mean merely how clearly; I mean how lovingly, how compassionately, how sensitively, how courageously, and how completely. This leaves no room for half truths, the “brutal truth,” or even the “plain truth.” It does mean the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, so help you God.

Remember this: Failure to express (i.e. push out) negative feelings does not make them go away; it keeps them in. Negativity “kept in” harms the body and burdens the soul.

The greatest challenge as human beings is to Be Here Now, to stop making things up! Stop creating thoughts about a pre-sent moment (a moment you “sent” yourself before you had a thought about it). Be in the moment. Remember, you sent your Self this moment as a gift. The moment contained the seed of a tremendous truth. It is a truth you wished to remember. Yet when the moment arrived, you immediately began constructing thoughts about it. Instead of being in the moment, you stood outside the moment and judged it. Then you re-acted. That is, you acted as you did once before. Now look at these two words:

REACTIVE

CREATIVE

Notice they are the same word. Only the “C” has been moved! When you “C” things correctly, you become Creative, rather than Reactive. The point I am trying to make is that when you come to each moment cleanly, without a previous thought about it, you can create who you are, rather than re-enact who you once were. Life is a process of creation, and you keep living it as if it were a process of re-enactment!

Neale Donald Walsch — Conversations with God: An Uncommon Dialogue — Book 2 (pp. 14-18)

Your current reality has been created by a previous version of yourself. Sometimes it feels easier to cast the blame of your current reality on someone or something else, but the truth of the matter is we all create our current reality.

It’s very important to express your truth, but here’s the issue with expressing your truth: you first have to know what YOUR truth is. Discovering YOUR truth can be difficult. It takes months and years of wrestling with your childhood conditioning and facing the wounds you collected along the way. You probably have people in your life who have implanted a lot of THEIR truth into you for years. Those are some of the hardest to work through.

You may discover YOUR truth and THEIR truth are very similar, and there’s nothing wrong with that. But you may figure out YOUR truth has nothing in common with those you love dearly. There’s nothing wrong with that either. You cannot take responsibility for how well another accepts your truth; you can only ensure how well it is communicated.

I have personally wrestled with and rediscovered MY truth over years of searching and growing. I love how far I have come. I’m forever thankful for the journey I have taken. For me, MY truth is the consistent attempt to go beyond what I know. I no longer stake my claim on what I have already learned or what I was taught to believe. Instead, I constantly push myself beyond my current knowledge. I have transitioned into a life-long learner and MY truth is continuously expanding and growing. That is the reason behind this From My Bookshelf series. I felt it was time to share some of the learning and growth I accumulated along the way.

The issue I see with many people is this: their truth is not really THEIR truth. They have failed to learn, grow, and develop beyond the conditioning of their childhood so they continue most their lives assuming a truth that isn’t theirs. No wonder so many people have no idea who they are or what they believe. No wonder society struggles with so many mental health issues. Nobody is living in their truth!

Not only are many people not living their truth; but very few people are actually living in the moment. The greatest challenge as human beings is to Be Here Now! It seems like our minds are anywhere and everywhere other than in our present moment. When we fail to live in our present moment, no wonder we are all walking around on high alert waiting to bite off anyone’s head who looks at us wrong. No wonder we are all so REACTIVE.

By living in the present moment, we are instead able to be CREATIVE. We are able to speak our truth, have deeper relationships, and experience a life better than we could ever imagine for ourselves. Life is always lived in this moment—the Eternal Now. There is actually never any other time in history. All we have is NOW.

I hope you’re able to take a step in the right direction to discovering and living YOUR truth today. And I hope you can find a way to be CREATIVE rather than REACTIVE.

Have a blessed day.

Peace and Love,

~Travis
