Sometimes I cry
When life gets hard
My throat grows tight
And I hold my breath.
Sometimes I cry
When I get confused
And don’t know the answer
To what’s troubling me.
Sometimes I cry
When I hear a song
That teleports me back
To a memory long gone.
Sometimes I cry
When I see another’s pain
Or I hear of their burden
And I can’t take it away.
Sometimes I cry
For no apparent reason
Life just feels heavy
And the tears flow freely.
Sometimes I cry
Over mistakes I’ve made
Or pains I’ve caused
That I can’t take back.
Sometimes I cry
For an unexpected loss
I had more on my mind
So much yet to share.
Sometimes I cry
If I can’t fix what’s broken
Either I don’t have the tools
Or I lack the right words.
Sometimes I cry
When I look at them
And my joy overflows
When I see my children’s smiles.
