What would it take?

What would it take for you to look at things differently? To pause, breathe, and actually question the narratives you’ve accepted as absolute truths?

What would it take for you to consider that your view of the world might be skewed, painted more by past experiences and biases than reality?

What would it take for you to admit that, deep down, you’re not as happy with yourself as you pretend to be? And what if admitting that was actually the bravest and most hopeful thing you could do?

What would it take for you to feel genuinely fulfilled—not just momentarily distracted or pleased, but deeply, joyfully fulfilled?

What would it take for you to put the phone down, step outside, and rediscover the peace that only uninterrupted time in nature can offer?

What would it take for you to let go of prejudices you’ve clung to, recognizing that holding onto them only narrows your life and shrinks your heart?

What would it take for you to realize that changing your entire life begins with changing just today? Small shifts. Simple, intentional steps forward.

What would it take for you to understand that you aren’t a victim of your circumstances, but rather a powerful participant in your own story?

What would it take for you to fully grasp that the quality of your life is largely dictated by your ability to manage your attention? What you focus on–grows.

And finally, what would it take for you to bravely explore how past wounds are shaping your current reactions? Not with judgment, but with curiosity and compassion?

We live in a world that moves at lightning speed. Notifications endlessly buzz, deadlines are always looming, and there’s a constant hum of noise demanding your attention. But here’s the secret: amid this relentless chaos, you hold incredible power. The power of choice. The choice of where your attention goes.

Yet, your attention has become a currency, ruthlessly harvested by large corporations thriving on your distraction. Social media platforms, cable news shows, and sensationalist politics are intentionally designed to hijack your attention, sparking emotional reactions that drown you in endless noise and nonsense. Without the ability to control your focus, you risk losing sight of what truly matters—your present reality, authentic connections, and meaningful fulfillment.

Every single day, you get to decide what you will invest your energy and attention into. Will it be in self-doubt, scrolling endlessly, or chasing temporary pleasures? Or will it be in acts of intentional living—moments of genuine connection, quiet reflection, and thoughtful exploration of your inner world?

Today, you have a choice. You can keep scrolling, numbing, distracting—or you can ask yourself just one of these questions and genuinely listen for the answer. Because sometimes the smallest shift in your attention creates the biggest change in your life.

So, take a moment right now. Breathe. Consider this your gentle nudge. Today could be the day you begin to rewrite your story, simply by paying attention.

What is one thing you can decide to do–today, right now–that is different than you have been habitually doing the past week or two?

Peace my friends,

~Travis

PS. If any of these writings have been helpful for you, feel free to share them with someone you care about. See you here next Sunday. In closing . . .

You can’t talk about the ocean
with a frog who lives in a well:
he is bounded by the space he inhabits.

You can’t talk about ice
with an insect who was born in June:
he is bounded by a single season.

You can’t talk about the Tao
with a person who thinks he knows something:
he is bounded by his own beliefs.

The Tao is vast and fathomless.
You can understand only by stepping
beyond the limits of yourself.
