From My Bookshelf – Day 29

As long as you keep complaining about your present circumstances, your mind will focus on it. By continually talking about, thinking about, and writing about the way things are, you are continually reinforcing those very same neural pathways in your brain that got you to where you are today. And you are continually sending out the same vibrations that will keep attracting the same people and circumstances that you have already created.

To change this cycle, you must focus instead on thinking, talking, and writing about the reality you want to create. You must flood your unconscious with thoughts and images of this new reality.

Jack Canfield — The Success Principles (p. 72)

I’ve had times in my life when I was stuck in a rut for a long long time. I complained about my circumstances to whoever would listen. I’m sure during that time my friends and loved ones turned the other direction hoping to avoid me if we were shopping at the same time. I didn’t blame them. It’s called a rut because it’s not easy to get out of.

Here in Michigan, we have to deal with the joys of snow. Recently, I was driving through the snow and got stuck, so I put the truck in forward and reverse about twenty times thinking I could gain enough momentum to get free. Instead, I created such deep ruts that the truck frame was simply sitting on top of the snow so the tires were just spinning. Needless to say, I had to dig out all the snow under the truck before the tires were touching the solid ground.

The significant problems we face cannot be solved by the same level of thinking that created them.

Albert Einstein

Just like digging myself out of the snow, I had to dig myself out of the depressing rut I was stuck in for so long. I had to start by thinking different, believing different, and writing my future different. I started by focusing on the kind of life I wanted to live and then I took steps to create that life for myself. Not everything is perfect—some aspects of my life still need adjusted—but I am no longer in the rut that plagued me before.

Zig Ziglar used to say, sometimes we need a checkup from the neck up. There’s nothing wrong with seeking help and making positive changes for yourself. If you’re currently stuck in a rut, you CAN make adjustments and create the life you want.

What reality do you want to create?

Have a blessed day.

Peace and Love,

~Travis
